1. Photosynthesis is an important process performed by plants to convert light to food(carbohydrates- a major source of energy for all living organisms)

3.This chlorophyll pigment absorbs the light energy and uses this energy to convert water and carbon dioxide into glucose(form of carbohydrates ).
4.During this reaction, oxygen is released as a byproduct which is used for respiration by animals and humans.
