Explanation:

The ratio of boys to girls is 4:3.

Let the Number of boys = 4x

Number of girls = 3x

After 160 boys left , the ratio  will be  

[tex]\frac{(4x - 160)}{(3x)} =\frac{4}{5}[/tex]

solving for x.  

5(4x - 160) = 4(3x) (cross multiplying)

20x - 800 = 12x

8x = 800

x = 100

substituting the value of we get

4x = 400 boys

3x = 300 girls
