The Americans justified their separation from the British by explaining their reasoning in the Declaration of Independence. This mainly included how the colonists felt that taxation without reason was unjust. They expressed their want for more citizen representation, and wished to created a more fair government system, separated from the British. They had rebelled, and shown that they were willing to sacrifice and fight for what they believed in.
