A compound number is a number that has more than one factor. A prime number is a number that only has a factor 1, and itself. For example, 17 is a prime number because on 1×17 will give you that. 24 is compound or composite because many factors like 1 and 24 or 2 and 12 or 6 and 4 multiply together to get that number.
