ANSWER- they wanted fertile land/ rich soil and trade

EXPLANATION-control over the fertile soil of the Po and Tiber River Valley allowed Roman´s to grow a diverse selection of crops such as olives and grains.

so it had great features and great outlooks because of it.

the mediterranean sea on which Rome was located this geographic feature made it easier to trade with other societies.
