you must first get the variables on the same side of the equal sign. It yields,

[tex]-8y-37y+8=-7[/tex]

if we also pass the constant 8 to the right hand side, we have

[tex]-8y-37y=-7-8[/tex]

Hence, the left and right hand sides are equal to
