First, we have to solve the parentheses, by applying distributive property:

[tex]3(x)+3(2)=4(x)+4(1)[/tex][tex]3x+6=4x+4[/tex]

Add and subtract alike terms:

[tex]6-4=4x-3x[/tex][tex]2=x[/tex][tex]x=2[/tex]
