3 4/5 + 4 3/5 = 8 2/5.

How you get it - First, add 3 and 4 - 7. 7/5. 

Then, add  those whole numbers - 3 + 4 = 7.

7 7/5.

But, you have an improper fraction.

So, you make it 8 2/5.
