Consumers are animals that energy comes from feeding off other living organisms. Examples range from a owl to a tiger. So consumers obtain nitrogen from other organisms. Producers on the other hand make their own energy using the process of photosynthesis. Examples of this include plants and algae. So producers obtain nitrogen from the Sun using the process of photosynthesis.
