People benefit from talking about their problems.  It allows them to talk about the things that bother them and it helps to have someone listen to them.  When they open up, it is a sign that they are asking for help.  That when we talk to people who open about what it is that they feel bad about we should listen.  Not only will it help that person find a solution to his or her problem, it also helps us to get to know that person better.
